Our paper making history dates back to the 1860s. Fast forward to 2012 and our flagship paper machine was introduced at the Botany mill. Known as B9, this state-of-the-art machine now sets the pace at Orora producing almost 400,000 tonnes of recycled containerboard grades every year.
Named for being the ninth paper machine to operate at our paper mill, B9 produces world-class recycled paper: a defining achievement in Orora’s history and a major milestone for manufacturing in Australia. It is one of the largest single capital investments in the company’s history.
We produce high quality recycled liner and recycled medium in the 100-200gsm weight range (20.5#/MSF – 42#/MSF). Our paper products are renowned for diverse benefits including:
- The high CD ring crush of our products gives our corrugated boxes excellent stacking strength.
- Our product uniformity ensure our products run efficiently through customers’ corrugating plants.
- The clean appearance of our Recycled Liners gives an outstanding print result.
- Our products are 100% recycled and FSC® Certified (FSC-C129579).
Using post-consumer waste products, such as office paper and cardboard boxes as the major input at our paper mill we proudly produce 100% recycled paper. When this paper is converted into corrugated board by our Fibre Packaging team, it represents a continual cycle of paper production and recycling.
B9 also runs a waste water treatment process that creates sustainable and renewable energy to power our operations.
