Orora Limited today announced the official opening of its purpose-built facility at Bundaberg, in partnership with AHG Refrigerated Logistics. The opening was marked by the unveiling of a plaque by Orora Managing Director and CEO, Mr Nigel Garrard and AHG CEO of Logistics, Mr Stephen Cleary, at an event attended by V8 Supercar champion, Scott McLaughlin, customers and local dignitaries.
The new 4200 square metre corrugated packaging, cold storage and transport facility will provide significant long-term benefits to Orora’s fruit and produce corrugated customer base in Bundaberg. The additional refrigerated transport resources provided by AHG means Orora can provide an end-to-end packaging solution for its customers, bringing their produce from farm to market in pristine condition.
“We see this investment, in Queensland’s horticultural rich heartland, as a key strategic asset for Orora that provides our customers with an integrated supply chain solution for their produce,” said Nigel Garrard, Managing Director and CEO.
“In addition, the new facility will provide significant job opportunities particularly during peak season. Bundaberg is a diverse and growing region, the food bowl for Northern Australia. The new facility, along with Orora and AHG’s strategic partnership, will enhance the ability to tailor solutions for growers that have specific supply chain requirements.”
AHG is Australia’s largest refrigerated logistics provider with an extensive road and rail transport fleet complemented by state-of-the-art cold stores in all Australian capital cities. The AHG transport network includes the well-known company names of Rand, Harris, Scott’s Refrigerated Freightways and JAT (Orora’s partner at the new Bundaberg facility).
JAT has transport depots across Australia’s Eastern seaboard. JAT’s trailers are satellite linked enabling them to track and monitor the cold chain compliance of all the freight they transport. Along with data loggers, they can download the individual history of each trailer movement.
Orora will continue to focus on its core strength, providing cost-effective, fit-for-purpose, corrugated cartons for the Bundaberg fruit and produce region and through its strategic partnership with AHG, customers will be provided with comprehensive logistics infrastructure that will deliver corrugated cartons to them in a timely manner.
“Orora strives to be a customer-focussed provider of innovative packaging solutions, and the opening of this new Bundaberg facility with our strategic partner AHG further supports this commitment,” said Andrew Russo, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Orora Fibre Packaging.
